About the chef
Over the course of her culinary career, Chef Amy B. Nesbit has worked in many capacities within the world of food and taste. In addition to leading kitchens in many Los Angeles establishments from food trucks to fine dining, she currently co-owns and is executive chef of a successful scratch kitchen, fine deli, and catering business in Frederick, MD called Pumpernickel + Rye. While her style was molded and inspired by the abundant farmer’s markets and diverse kitchens of Southern California where she has resided for over 20 years, Amy is originally from Baltimore. She ventured to LA to expand her education in the fine art world where she holds degrees in Visual Communications and Fine Art, but soon found her home in the culinary world where she applies her unique skill set to designing menus with an artistic edge often using color, texture, and storylines as inspiration.
In the early aughts, Chef Amy founded a unique personal chef and catering business which catered to among others, professional athletes, celebrity clientele, and private industry affairs. After staging stints in Tokyo, South Korea, and Ho Chi Minh City, Chef Amy came home inspired to explore and create with a new appreciation for discipline and technique. From there, her obsession with travel and exploration is what has fueled her passion for curating excepional events and successful brick + morter locations, using each journey as opportunity to create a diverse range of conceptual designs and R+D for her clients.
Amy, her husband Mike, and their mini aussie, Huxley, reside in Downtown Los Angeles, but will travel for food.
